About me
Designer, writer, system builder.
For the past 8 years, I've been the only designer at a B2B restaurant software company, where I've shaped everything from a cloud portal built from the ground up to the in-store point-of-sale terminal.
Before that, I worked in graphic and web design. I ran my own design business with clients for 3 years, then led the website, copy and photography for a local company that makes custom car seat covers. Those years taught me to work closely with clients, write clearly and care about the whole experience, not just the screen.
Being a team of one taught me to do it all: research, information architecture, interaction and visual design, and building a design system — then teaching developers and product folks how to use it.
I also write the words in what I design: button labels, help text, tooltips and the names of settings. I've written my own copy since design school, and for every client website I built. I've also worked as a technical writer at Frima Studio, a video game company in Quebec City, and as a technical editor at BCIT. A clearer name often helps people more than a new layout does.

I'm now looking for a senior product design role where I can bring that end-to-end ownership to a bigger team.
How I Work
01
Start with the People
Talk to the restaurant staff and support teams who live with the product before deciding anything.
02
Name Things Well
Good nomenclature and information architecture do more for usability than any visual polish.
03
Design with Developers
A shared system and shared vocabulary means what ships matches what was designed.
Beyond Work
I'm drawn to things that are both technical and artistic. If we share any of these, let's talk.
Paddle Boarding & Hiking
On the water, I feel at one with nature: calm, quiet and surrounded by views. When it's too cold to paddle, I hike. I started a hiking group at work, and it turned into friendships for life.
Figure Skating
I started at 16 and was soon on the ice 6 days a week, training to skate with Disney on Ice before an injury changed my plans. Nothing beats the feeling of floating across the ice to music.
Gardening
My dad let me pick plants for our front yard when I was little, and I've loved it ever since. I even studied landscape architecture for a while. Now I'm part of a community garden and run its social media, and my balcony is full of blue and purple flowers.
